Recap: Sunny Hills Lancers vs. Buena Park Coyotes
While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, The Sunny Hills Lancers were not quite the Buena Park Coyotes''s equal in the second half on Friday. Sunny Hills and Buena Park were almost perfectly matched up, but Sunny Hills suffered an agonizing 14-13 loss. Sunny Hills was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Buena Park apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Sunny Hills saw an underclassman step up: Elias Vorathavorn rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Among those leading the charge was Jaden Moore, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Moore really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
This is the second loss in a row for Sunny Hills and nudges their season record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.5 points per game. As for Buena Park, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Sunny Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Troy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for Buena Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Fullerton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fullerton is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
