Midland Park has gone 9-1 against Cresskill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:15 p.m. The last four games Midland Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
It was a proper cat-fight when Midland Park challenged Becton on Wednesday. The Panthers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2.
Midland Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Fleming, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cresskill). They put the hurt on Elmwood Park with a sharp 20-10 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won five in a row.
Andrew Koprowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Koprowski was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Angelo Cristantiello was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Manarang, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Cresskill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Midland Park has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Cresskill, they pushed their record up to 7-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Midland Park has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cresskill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Midland Park beat Cresskill 8-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
