Football Recap: Sanger Indians vs. Gunter Tigers
After flying high against Community last Friday, Sanger came back down to earth. The Indians took a 60-42 bruising from the Gunter Tigers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Tigers are ranked 64th).

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reginald Jones, who rushed for 205 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Jones is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 120 every time he's taken the field this season. Sanger also got help from Joel Rodriguez, who showed off his sure hands for 123 receiving yards.
Even if they lost, Sanger's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Conner Tillison was especially locked on to Gunter's QB and sacked him twice. Sanger received some extra help from Jaise Jacksons, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Sanger's record now sits at 2-2. As for Gunter, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
Sanger and Gunter will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Indians are set to challenge their familiar foe Bonham at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. Meanwhile, Gunter will square off against rival Bells at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th.
