Basketball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Norwood

Norwood waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took down the Mountain Grove Panthers 71-56. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Leading Norwood to victory were Cooper Vaughan and Pierce Lawson. Vaughan went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Lawson made all 5 shots he took racking up 16 points. Vaughan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton McDaris, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and five assists.

Norwood's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for Mountain Grove, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Norwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-57 win against Liberty on the 30th. As for Mountain Grove, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mountain Grove Panthers duke it out with the Thayer Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Thayer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Mountain Grove likes a good challenge.
