Soccer Game Preview: McMinn County vs. Howard Tech

The McMinn County Cherokees are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McMinn County has given up an average of 3 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

McMinn County is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Walker Valley, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, McMinn County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Walker Valley are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Howard Tech was not quite East Hamilton's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 2-1. Howard Tech have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Their goal came courtesy of Miguel Aguilar, which was the first he's scored this season.

McMinn County's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Howard Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

McMinn County might still be hurting after the 6-1 loss they got from Howard Tech in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can McMinn County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
