Softball Game Preview: Westwood Redhawks vs. Ridge View Blazers

Westwood has gone 9-1 against Ridge View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Westwood Redhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ridge View Blazers at 6:00 p.m. Westwood has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Wednesday, Westwood came up short against Andrew Jackson and fell 11-6.

Haylee Prevatt was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Westwood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Ella, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ella is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another was Ridgeway Marguerite, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Ridge View was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They lost 13-2 to Westwood. The Blazers have struggled against the Redhawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.

Westwood has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. Ridge View's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Westwood took their victory against Ridge View when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-2. Does Westwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ridge View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
