Football Recap: Smithfield-Selma Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Smithfield-Selma had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 57-21 loss at the hands of the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.

Noah Jeter threw for 128 yards and one touchdown. Jeremy Smith was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards and one score.

As for Southeast Raleigh, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Christian Freeman was his usual excellent self, rushing for 121 yards and four TDs on only seven carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Smithfield-Selma will head out to take on Fuquay - Varina at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Bengals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.14 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Southeast Raleigh, they will take on Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
