Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tocoi Creek). Their defense stepped up to hand the Menendez Falcons an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. Madison Phelps was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

The win (which was Tocoi Creek's third in a row) raised their record to 4-5-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Menendez, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-7.

Tocoi Creek and Menendez could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Tocoi Creek (ranked 91st) will meet P.K. Yonge (ranked 31st) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Menendez will square off against West Nassau at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 162 places (303 vs. 141).
