Baseball Recap: Troy Christian Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

While Troy Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Milton-Union Bulldogs a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Judah Simmons made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Twiss, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Landon Day was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Troy Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Milton-Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troy Christian will take on Emmanuel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Milton-Union, they will challenge Newton Local at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
