Recap: Booneville Blue Devils vs. Alcorn Central Bears
On Friday, The Booneville Blue Devils got themselves on the board against the Alcorn Central Bears, but the Alcorn Central Bears never followed suit. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 48-0 win over the Bears. Given Booneville's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Alcorn Central is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Booneville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Gillon, who threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Zion Nunn was in the mix too, providing Booneville with two touchdowns.
Booneville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Alcorn Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Booneville will take on Tanner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tanner comes in on seven and Booneville on three. As for Alcorn Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Kossuth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Kossuth's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Alcorn Central has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
