Softball Recap: South Stokes Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

South Stokes had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Alleghany Trojans a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Sauras have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

South Stokes pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Alleghany, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Stokes will venture away from home to take on Mount Airy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Granite Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.13 runs per game on average), something the Sauras will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Alleghany, they are taking a road trip to face off against North Wilkes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
