Basketball Recap: Flatirons Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Trey Abeyta and Parker Wilson

Flatirons Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 66-41 to the SkyView Academy Hawks on Thursday. The Bison lost against the Hawks in their previous head to head back in December of 2014, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 51-48 score last time.

Flatirons Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Parker Wilson and Trey Abeyta. Wilson dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards, while Abeyta posted three points. Abeyta has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

SkyView Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Dove, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dove a new career-high in boards. Reagan Lewis was another key player, going 9-for-14 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Flatirons Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for SkyView Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Flatirons Academy has already played their next matchup, a 68-52 win against Dawson School on the 18th. As for SkyView Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-57 victory against Liberty Common on the 15th.
