Baseball Recap: Manchester Takes a Loss

Manchester came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-0 to the Tolland Eagles. The Red Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Pj Ortiz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Manchester has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Tolland, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester will challenge Somers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Red Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tolland, they will square off against Coventry at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
