Softball Game Preview: New Brighton Lions vs. Quaker Valley Quakers

The New Brighton Lions will venture away from home to take on the Quaker Valley Quakers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. New Brighton has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for New Brighton's offense. They lost 15-0 to Neshannock on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Ellwood City hit Quaker Valley with a six-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Quakers came up short against the Wolverine, falling 13-3.

Quaker Valley's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for New Brighton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

New Brighton came out on top in a nail-biter against Quaker Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
