Basketball Recap: Life Christian Academy Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Life Christian Academy hadn't done well against Hope Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Life Christian Academy Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-66 victory over the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Trojan Tigers last Monday, they had to take a 69-63 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Life Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahmed Salim Mustapha, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards. Mustapha's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Alberto Maldonado was another key player, going 6-for-11 on his way to 17 points.

Despite the defeat, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dwayne Foreman III went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 40 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foreman III has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Griggs, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Life Christian Academy pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.7 points over those games. As for Hope Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-11.

As of now, neither Life Christian Academy nor Hope Academy have any future games scheduled.
