Softball Recap: Broughton Comes Up Short

Broughton had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it six. They lost 15-4 to the Wakefield Wolverines. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Lillian O'Neill made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Avery Troxell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Wakefield, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Wakefield's side, they got a massive performance out of Ella Lampman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Lampman has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brenna Colleran, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
