Softball Recap: South Milwaukee Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

The South Milwaukee Rockets made easy work of the St. Thomas More Cavaliers on Monday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Ava Dziondziakowski made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Amber Helgren was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

South Milwaukee pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. Thomas More, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, South Milwaukee will challenge Pius XI Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Thomas More, they will take on Racine Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
