Volleyball Recap: Williams Falls to Durham in First Game of Season

Williams unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Durham Trojans on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-13, 25-7.

Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from Ariana Paiz, who had six digs and six aces.

Leading Durham to victory were Clare Osbon and Payton Santos. Osbon had 22 assists and five digs, while Santos hit 76.2% for 17 kills and seven blocks. That's the most digs Osbon has posted over her last six contests.

Durham's victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Live Oak on the 21st. As for Durham, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Las Plumas on the 21st.
