Poudre scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 71-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Discovery Canyon Thunder. If the Impalas were looking for revenge after losing 53-50 to the Thunder when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Discovery Canyon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Bennett out in front who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Bennett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hugh Tarpenning, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Poudre and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Discovery Canyon, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Poudre will take on Wellington in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Discovery Canyon and Falcon will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
