Grayslake Central came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 53-45 win over the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juliette Huff, who went 8 of 15 on her way to 23 points and five rebounds. Huff is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbey Miner, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Grayslake Central is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Marian Central Catholic, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grayslake Central will welcome Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marian Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Crystal Lake Central at 7:00 p.m.
