Football Recap: Flowing Wells Skates Past Sunnyside with Ease

Flowing Wells hadn't done well against Sunnyside recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Caballeros simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Blue Devils 43-0. Considering the Caballeros have won six matchups by more than 39 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Flowing Wells' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Simmons, who rushed for 142 yards and one score on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Benicio Ruiz, who threw for 99 yards and three TDs.

Flowing Wells didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Sunnyside to a completion percentage of just 38.9%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: John Perales and Jaiden De'Mary, who each logged one passes deflected. Flowing Wells has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.

Flowing Wells' defense didn't let Raymond Duarte, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Marcus Devoy was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Flowing Wells' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Sunnyside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
