Baseball Game Preview: Waukee Warriors vs. Johnston Dragons

The Waukee Warriors will take on the Johnston Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Waukee 3, Johnston 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Waukee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Northwest, who was ranked fifth at the time (Waukee was ranked eighth). The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Wolves on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won three games in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Johnston's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 10-3 to Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dragons have suffered since June 2nd.

Waukee's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Johnston, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.

Waukee took their victory against Johnston in their previous meeting on June 2nd by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
