Softball Recap: Boyd County's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Boyd County entered their tilt with Russell on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Russell Red Devils as they made off with a 12-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Boyd County got a massive performance out of Kyli Kouns, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Kouns has posted since back in April of 2024. Jadyn Goad was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Boyd County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Boyd County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Boyd County will square off against Greenup County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Boyd County's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Russell, they will take on Pike County Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
