Softball Recap: Jimtown Comes Up Short

Jimtown fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Prairie Heights on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5. The Jimmies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Jimtown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Winrott, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another was Maleah Wingard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Jimtown has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Prairie Heights, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-14 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jimtown will venture away from home to take on Tippecanoe Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jimmies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Prairie Heights, they are taking a road trip to square off against Garrett at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
