Baseball Recap: McConnellsburg Find Success

McConnellsburg won the last time they faced Claysburg-Kimmel and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Hoyt Glenn made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of McConnellsburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Reese Alexander was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kohen Hall was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

McConnellsburg's record now sits at 5-3. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McConnellsburg will head out to square off against Southern Fulton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Indians have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they will venture away from home to take on Northern Bedford County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
