Baseball Game Preview: Laurel Spartans vs. Aliquippa Quips

For the second straight game, Laurel will face off against Aliquippa. The Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Quips at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Laurel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Aliquippa on Tuesday. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024 (when they won 15-0).

RJ Kissick made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Luca Santini and Kolton Carlson did most of the damage at the plate: Santini went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Carlson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those two hits gave Santini a new career-high. Brayden Faulkner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Laurel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Aliquippa is on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9. As for Laurel, their record is now 5-7.
