Basketball Game Preview: Jersey Panthers vs. Staunton Bulldogs

The Jersey Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Staunton Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Jersey's tournament run continued when they took on Carlyle on Sunday. Jersey lost 65-40 to Carlyle. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Indians/Lady Indians are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, Staunton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They secured a 52-47 W over the Warriors.

Jersey's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Staunton, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.

Jersey beat Staunton 49-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jersey since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
