Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meridian). They managed a 63-59 win over the Lakewood Cougars on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-39 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, don't look at Leiana Riveira. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 10 on her way to 20 points along with six boards and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Riveira a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Perez, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Lakewood, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10.

Meridian will host Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they will square off against Blaine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
