Baseball Game Preview: Rio Grande Ravens vs. Centennial Hawks

For the second straight game, Rio Grande will face off against Centennial. The Ravens will head out on the road to square off against the Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Rio Grande heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They lost 16-6 to Centennial. The Ravens' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

For Centennial's part, Gilberto Torres made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Torres has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nick Raitt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Mateo Marquez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
