Volleyball Recap: Wessington Springs Takes a Loss

Wessington Springs lost against Hitchcock-Tulare back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Spartans came up short against the Patriots, falling 3-0.

While Wessington Springs was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Hitchcock-Tulare's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-13, 25-17.

Hitchcock-Tulare's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Knox, who had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Knox has posted since back in September. Avarie Estey was another key player, getting 13 digs and two aces.

Wessington Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Hitchcock-Tulare, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Wessington Springs will host James Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hitchcock-Tulare, after both having extra time off, they and Waubay/Summit will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
