Volleyball Recap: Sherman Oaks CES Triumphs

Sherman Oaks CES proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the San Fernando Tigers. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sherman Oaks CES wouldn't go down easily and took San Fernando into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 15-10.

Sherman Oaks CES found their leader in sophomore Piel Capagcuan, who had five aces.

Sherman Oaks CES' victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Sherman Oaks CES has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Van Nuys on the 21st. As for San Fernando, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northridge Academy at 3:30 p.m. on September 3.
