Baseball Recap: Morgantown Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Morgantown's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wheeling Park Patriots 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Mohigans' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Vincent Aloi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mason Bowers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Morgantown pushed their record up to 25-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wheeling Park, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 24-11.

Morgantown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
