Basketball Recap: Otsego Knights vs. North Baltimore Tigers
Otsego had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They escaped with a win against the North Baltimore Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Leading Otsego to victory were Jocelyn Cornell and Cailyn Rider. Cornell scored 16 points plus three steals, while Rider posted seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Cornell also posted a 38% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, North Baltimore saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lacie Allison dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Josselyn Paynter was another key player, scoring seven points in addition to four blocks and three steals.
Otsego and Northwood are set to duel on Tuesday. As for North Baltimore, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-26 victory against Cardinal Stritch on the 23rd.
