Softball Recap: St. Paul Comes Up Short

St. Paul couldn't beat Monroeville on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Flyers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Monday.

Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush and Payton Preston did some serious damage despite the final result: Mansfield-Bush got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Preston went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Paul and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Monroeville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-2.

St. Paul has already played their next contest, a 17-5 victory against Mansfield Christian on the 8th. As for Monroeville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-0 win against Western Reserve on the 9th.
