Gilroy is 6-1 against Santa Teresa since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saints at 4:00 p.m. Gilroy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Gilroy's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Leigh hitters got past them. The Mustangs came up short against the Longhorns on Thursday, falling 15-9. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ariela Yslava made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Averi Peters, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa didn't have quite enough to beat Carmel on Wednesday and fell 7-5.

Deanna Hernandez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Herbst, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Santa Teresa has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Gilroy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Santa Teresa's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Gilroy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Santa Teresa, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Gilroy keep running through batters, or will the Saints buck the trend?

Everything went Gilroy's way against Santa Teresa in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Gilroy made off with an 11-0 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
