Football Recap: Russell County Piles Up the Points Against Northside Methodist Academy

Russell County was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northside Methodist Academy on Tuesday. The Warriors breezed past the Knights to the tune of 44-6. The Warriors have beaten the Knights the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.

A big part of Russell County's victory came down to the chemistry between Kora Perry and her top target McKenzie Word. Perry threw for 190 yards and one touchdown on only 15 passes while Word picked up 45 receiving yards and one TD. Those 45 receiving yards gave Word a new career-high.

Russell County's defense made their presence known, laying out Sydney Freeman. seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Carley Spies and Kennedy Ellison, who racked up four sacks between them.

When it comes to explaining why Northside Methodist Academy lost, don't look at Sydney Warren. Despite the final result, she picked up 132 receiving yards and one score.

The win got Russell County back to even at 4-4. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
