Basketball Game Preview: Athens Academy Spartans vs. Oglethorpe County Patriots + Official Tickets

Athens Academy is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to take on the Oglethorpe County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Athens Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

While Athens Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Washington-Wilkes 44-41. Those 44 points were actually the fewest the Spartans have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, Oglethorpe County came up short against Stephens County on Friday and fell 67-60. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Athens Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Athens Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Oglethorpe County when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
