            Softball Recap: Portales Rams vs. Hatch Valley Bears        
        
		
        
        
            Portales won the last time they faced Hatch Valley and things went their way  on Saturday too. Portales put the hurt on Hatch Valley with a sharp  22-3 victory. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Rams.
 Annaleah Lujan made a big impact no matter where she played. She  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   two  hits. Lujan was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring three  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Portales let  Amaya Lujan and  Maria Lujan run wild. Amaya  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances, while  Maria  scored four  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. Those  three  runs gave  Amaya a new career-high.  Gloria Terrazas was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
 Portales  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  struck out at most two  strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Portales now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hatch Valley, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record  this season.
 Portales will square off against Bloomfield at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Portales' pitchers better be ready for this one: Bloomfield has averaged an impressive 7.7  runs per game this season. As for Hatch Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  game,  a  12-11  defeat against Mesilla Valley Christian School on the 25th.
