Basketball Recap: Oak Grove Takes Down East Henderson in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Oak Grove walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 75-72 win over the East Henderson Eagles on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Grizzlies as they're now sitting on four straight.

Loucas Shoaf continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 63% from the field en route to 26 points in addition to five assists and three steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tristan Nunez, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 21 points and seven boards.

When it comes to explaining why East Henderson lost, don't look at Caiden Brewer. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double with 41 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 56.9% of East Henderson's points, marking the third time in a row Brewer has posted more than a third of the team's points. Jaylin Brewer was another key player, putting up nine points.

Oak Grove's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for East Henderson, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-1.

Coming up, Oak Grove is taking a road trip to square off against Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 matches -- so hopefully Oak Grove likes a good challenge. East Henderson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
