The Cherry Creek Bruins and the Thomas Jefferson Spartans will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Thomas Jefferson will be up against a hot Cherry Creek squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Bruins blew past Douglas County 60-15 on Saturday. With the Bruins ahead 39-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Cherry Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Carpender led the charge by putting up 12 points and eight boards. Those 12 points gave Carpender a new career-high. Kayden Patrick was another key player, earning eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Cherry Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomas Jefferson). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Kennedy 63-27. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Commanders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Cherry Creek's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Thomas Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Cherry Creek suffered a grim 65-42 defeat to Thomas Jefferson in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
