Softball Game Preview: Eastlake Titans vs. Christian Patriots

The Eastlake Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Christian Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastlake will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Eastlake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Westlake get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Three seems to be a good number for the Titans as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Addison Suriano, who gave up just five hits to keep Westlake off the board. Suriano has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastlake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Pham, who went 2-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Pham has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Monache 1-0.

Alyssa McCurty made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McCurty was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other pitching news, Ava Barrios looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Eastlake, their record is now 22-11-1.

Eastlake couldn't quite get it done against Christian when the teams last played back in March as they fell 7-2. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
