Basketball Recap: Stanwood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Everett last Monday, Stanwood came back down to earth. The Stanwood Spartans were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 60-59 to the Meadowdale Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 79-68 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Meadowdale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Brockmeyer out in front who went 7 of 16 to rack up 22 points. The contest was Brockmeyer's tenth in a row with at least 15 points. Kyairra Roussin was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds.

Stanwood's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Meadowdale, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Stanwood nor Meadowdale have any future games scheduled.
