Softball Recap: Genoa Area Comes Up Short

Genoa Area couldn't beat Van Buren on Saturday even though they stacked 11 runs on them in the first inning. The Comets fell just short of the Black Knights by a score of 13-12. The Comets just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row.

Emersen Bickel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mya Colvin, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Genoa Area's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Van Buren, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

When Genoa Area and Van Buren next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Comets will try to stop Oak Harbor's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Van Buren will square off against Arcadia and their three-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
