Baseball Game Preview: Cole Camp Blue Birds vs. Sacred Heart Gremlins

The Cole Camp Blue Birds will face off against the Sacred Heart Gremlins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cole Camp will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Cole Camp made easy work of Stover and carried off a 9-3 victory.

Dasch Kaiser made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brett Burdick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Colton Dieckman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart suffered their biggest defeat since March 15, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 10-4 to Northwest.

Cole Camp's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sacred Heart, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Cole Camp skirted past Sacred Heart 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Do the Blue Birds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gremlins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
