Baseball Recap: Shawnee Comes Up Short

Shawnee lost against Delsea back in June of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Renegades fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 3-2.

Nick Panciera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Shawnee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Ahrens, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Shawnee's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Delsea, the win keeps they at an undefeated 10-0.

Shawnee and Delsea should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Renegades will face off against Triton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (36 vs. 217). Meanwhile, Delsea (ranked 14th) will meet Highland Regional (ranked 182nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 1.5, the Tartans 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
