Basketball Recap: Canby Falls Short of Wilsonville in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Canby can now relate to. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilsonville Wildcats on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Despite the loss, Canby still got an impressive performance from Jaxon Lawson, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. That's the most assists Lawson has posted since back in December of 2024. Jack Brauckmiller was another key player, putting up six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Lawson wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Canby was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. This was only their fifth loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Canby's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Wilsonville, their win bumped their record up to 27-4.

As of now, neither Canby nor Wilsonville have any future games scheduled.
