Baseball Game Preview: Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils vs. Morgan Huskies

The Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Morgan Huskies at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Coginchaug Regional will be strutting in after a win while Morgan will be coming in after a loss.

While Coginchaug Regional didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy on Thursday. That looming 12-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Morgan's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Guilford.

Zach Viens and Wyatt Luke did some serious damage despite the final result: Viens went 1-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Luke went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That triple marked the first that Viens has hit this season.

Coginchaug Regional pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
