Marmion had won four straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped their record up to 14-9-1 to make it five. They skirted past the Fenwick Friars 10-9. The game was the first time the Cadets have beaten the Friars on their field since April 12, 2017.
Ethan Flores was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Flores was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Trajan Storto-Featherson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Kevin Schultz also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
As for Fenwick, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-11-1. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
On Fenwick's side, they got a good showing from Will Tomczak, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tomczak has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Ryan Lazewski led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Fenwick is 5-1-1 when Lazewski posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Jarnecke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Marmion will square off against Montini Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Cadets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fenwick, they will face off against Leo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
