Baseball Game Preview: Tahquitz Titans vs. Valley View Eagles

Tahquitz has won four straight games at home, while Valley View has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Titans will welcome the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. Tahquitz's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Valley View's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tahquitz let Moreno Valley stack four runs on them in the first inning on Tuesday but luckily Tahquitz prevailed anyway. The Titans walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Vikings.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley View). Everything went their way against Lakeside on Friday as they made off with a 17-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Joey Ward and Jovaughny Pena did most of the damage at the plate: Ward went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Pena went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Ward a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Craig, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Tahquitz's victory bumped their record up to 12-4-1. As for Valley View, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
