Recap: Chenango Forks Blue Devils vs. Waverly Wolverines

The Chenango Forks Blue Devils were the 59-51 winner over the Waverly Wolverines when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Chenango Forks opened the new year with a less-than-successful 67-54 defeat to Waverly. While losing is never fun, Chenango Forks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Waverly is ranked 117th).

Despite the loss, Chenango Forks still got an impressive performance from Stephen Samsel, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Samsel has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Walker Paske, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Chenango Forks has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Waverly, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Seton Catholic Central the next time they take the court. Chenango Forks will head out to face Seton Catholic Central at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Waverly will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
